Windows 95, 98 & Me Settings...

The following is a step-by-step guide for setting up Windows 95, 98, Me:

A. Make DNS settings (Only required for windows 95) - Skip

  1. Click Start
  2. Settings
  3. Control Panel
  4. Double click on Network icon
  5. Click on TCP/IP once and then click on Properties
  6. A TCP/IP Property Information box may appear…ignore it by clicking on OK


  7. Click once on DNS Configuration and type the following information shown below:

  8. Click OK
  9. Click OK again
  10. The computer should give a message to insert Windows CD, type the path for the CD drive or windows directory, and click OK
  11. After it finishes copying the files, you will be asked to restart your computer for these settings to take effect.

B. Make Dial-up Networking icon

  1. Double-click My Computer
  2. Double-click Dial-up Networking
  3. Double click Make new connection

  4. Type Xtreme in the field labeled "Type a name for the computer you are dialing"
  5. Click Next
  6. In the Telephone Number type 59644220
  7. Click Next
  8. Click Finish
    This has created a dial up connection called Xtreme

  1. Click once on Xtreme icon
  2. Click File on the menu, then on Properties on the drop-down menu
  3. The Dial-up Networking properties box should appear:

  4. Ensure that the phone number is entered as shown
  5. Remove the tick next to "Use area code and Dialing Properties"
  6. Ensure that the modem has been chosen correctly

  1. Click Server Types at the top of the properties box.
  2. The server options should be set exactly as shown:


  3. Ensure that there is NO check in the following:
    "Log on to network", "Require encrypted password", "Require Data Encryption", "Record a log file for this connection", "NetBEUI" and "IPX/SPX compatible"
  4. The Type of Server should be set to PPP etc.
  5. Ensure that TCP/IP is checked.

  1. Click TCP/IP Settings... The TCP/IP Settings box appears
  2. The TCP/IP settings should be set exactly as shown:

  3. Click OK
  4. Click OK again to finish
  • Your modem is now ready to dial Xtreme
