Outlook Express 4.x/5.x/6.x Settings...

The following is a step-by-step guide for your Outlook Express E-mail settings.

If you want to setup a new account - Click HERE

  1. Open Outlook Express
  2. Click Tools
  3. Click Accounts:


  4. Click on the Default account and click Properties: (if you don't see a default account click HERE)


  5. Now in the General menu, Fill in all the information as detailed below, Your Name is required as well as your e-mail address.
    Organization is optional and the Reply address should normally be left blank.
    Ensure "Include this account when receiving mail etc." is checked.


  6. After Clicking on the Servers Tab
    Enter mail.xtreme.net.au as the Incoming Mail (POP3).
    Enter mail.xtreme.net.au as the Outgoing Mail (SMTP).
    Enter your Xtreme account name in the Account name box (The part of your e-mail address before the "@xtreme.net.au").
    Enter your password in the Password box.
    If you want to be prompted for your password every time you check for mail, remove the check from "Remember Password".
    Ensure "Log on using Secure Password etc." is not checked.
    Ensure "My sever requires authentication" is not checked.


  7. Click OK
  8. Click Close
  9. Now log in & send your first E-mail - (A good test is to send yourself an e-mail)

In the event you do not have a Default Account or you want to create a new Account, follow the steps below:

  1. Open Outlook Express
  2. Click Tools
  3. Click Accounts:


  4. You will see this box:
  5. Click the Add button (top right). A pop-out menu should appear
  6. Click on Mail - the "Internet Connection Wizard" box should appear
  7. Enter Xtreme in the Display Name box, then click Next
  8. Enter e-mail address
    • An e-mail address consists of a name of your choosing (prearranged with Xtreme) followed by an @ symbol.
      For example: admin@xtreme.net.au
    • Enter your chosen e-mail address in the box
    • Click Next

  9. Specify servers
    • Ensure that POP3 is selected as the type of incoming mail server
    • Enter mail.xtreme.net.au as the Incoming Mail Server
    • Enter mail.xtreme.net.au as the Outgoing Mail Server
    • Click Next

  10. Specify account and password
    • Enter your Xtreme account name in the Account box (The part of your e-mail address before the "@xtreme.net.au")
    • Enter your password in the Password box
    • If you want to be prompted for your password every time you check for mail, remove the check from "Remember Password"
  11. Click Next
  12. Click Finish
  13. Now log in & send your first E-mail - (A good test is to send yourself an e-mail)
